Chef Lulu

Ciao a tutti! I’m Lulu. Growing up Sicilian-American, I was always surrounded by incredible food, but I was the pickiest eater. I would always just observe the dishes being made, and the traditions that went along with them. It wasn't until I left the country for the first time when I was 15 that I branched out of my (very refined) palette of pastina with butter, pizza and PB & J sandwiches. We were staying with an unforgettable family in the Dominican Republic, and immediately took note that the mother was not going to stand for me not eating everything ... so I did. This ignited an unwavering passion for cuisine within me. There, I learned so many things I had never known about cuisine. I completely fell in love with food and took that love home with me. My family was astonished with my newly acquired palette, and so we began cooking together with myself actually eating the food. Tasting and preparing the foods in the way that my ancestors had prepared in the past connected me to my roots in a way that I had not been before. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with Endometriosis this past year where I began to modify our family's traditional recipes to match more of a holistic and modern way of eating. This way I could still enjoy the foods I love, like pasta, but give it more nutritional properties by making it vegan or omitting fatty ingredients in sauces. This is where Eating With Endo was born! Once I began teaching classes in 2017 I realized how much I LOVE teaching, and more importantly how much I love watching people learn. This has been such an incredible outlet for me to share my culture with people, and really make cooking and eating well an accessible experience for everyone. None of this would be possible without the love and support of my family, my friends, my love, and my friends to come. Thank you for being a part of my journey!

Ciao a tutti! Mi chiamo Lulu. Si da piccola ho avuto una specifica dieta di pizza, panini al salame e formaggio. Con una larga e meravigliosa famiglia di talentuosi cuochi e con una vasta eredita' italiana sono sempre stata affascinata dal cucinare ma ancora troppo timida per provare. Tutto cambio' il primo giorno che visitai l'estero. La mia curiosita' sboccio' e cominciai a provare tutto quello che era disponibile. Questo fu il momento nel quale mi innamorai della cucina. Da quel giorno passo il mio tempo libero studiando diversi tipi di alimentazioni e culture. E cosi' Lulu's kitchen nasce a Brooklyn. Grazie per far parte della mia avventura!
